CAIRO – 16 December 2024: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s leadership in advancing civil aviation during a meeting with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) officials in Cairo.

The discussions, which included ICAO Secretary-General Juan Carlos Salazar and Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano, marked the reopening of ICAO’s renovated Middle East Regional Office, hosted by Egypt since 1953.

The minister emphasized Egypt’s strategic position as a link between three continents and its commitment to enhancing aviation safety, sustainability, and infrastructure.

He praised ICAO’s role in fostering global cooperation and reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to modernizing airports, aligning with international standards, and developing skilled aviation professionals.

ICAO officials commended Egypt’s contributions to regional and global aviation, underscoring the importance of ongoing collaboration to achieve shared goals.

“Egypt remains a committed partner to ICAO in driving aviation safety and sustainability across the region and beyond,” Abdelatty concluded.
