CAIRO - 16 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Sunday with leading members of the journalism and media community to discuss Egypt’s position in foreign and internal affairs.

Sisi laid out Egypt’s efforts in reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and allowing aid into the war-stricken strip, as well as efforts to settle crises in Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, and Yemen.

He also touched on water security as a pressing priority and an existential issue for Egypt.

The president emphasized that Egypt’s police and armed forces are ready for any internal or external challenges. Meanwhile, the unity and cohesion of the Egyptian people is the first and most important factor in preserving the state, he highlighted.

As for economic reforms, Egypt has already gone through the most difficult part of the journey, which is reflected in the confidence of international financial institutions.

Sisi underscored all the endeavors made to localize industries and reduce import as much as possible.

Despite major leaps in reform in numerous aspects, there are some downsides in Egypt on which the state is still working to build a strong nation that is impregnable to any aggressor, the Egyptian president said.

On Syria, Sisi said its geopolitical position is strong, but at the same time there are determinants that control it.

He emphasized that those decision makers in Syria are its own people, and that they have the choice to either destroy or build it.
