CAIRO - 16 December 2024: Egypt categorically rejects and condemns the Israeli government's decision to expand settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, which represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian state and its territorial integrity.

Egypt deems the Israeli plan to expand settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan territories in violation of international law as an insistence on imposing a fait accompli policy.

It reflects once again Israel's lack of desire to achieve just peace in the region as it continues its expansion in seizing Arab lands and changing the demographic status of the lands it occupies in flagrant violation of international law and international conventions. That includes the Four Geneva Conventions that recognizes Israel as the occupying power.

Egypt calls on international actors and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in rejecting these violations of Syrian sovereignty and putting an end to Israeli settlements.
