Egypt, China expand educational cooperation through Cairo University

CAIRO – 13 December 2024: Cairo University President Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadeq hosted Ren Yu Zhong, Vice President of Peking University, along with an accompanying delegation and representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt.

 

The meeting, attended by Cairo University's Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Ahmed Ragab, and Rehab Sobhy, Director of the Confucius Institute, focused on expanding academic collaboration between the two universities.

 

Discussions centered on establishing joint or dual-degree programs in disciplines such as Chinese language, history, archaeology, medicine, and engineering. The agenda also included faculty and student exchange programs to enhance academic cooperation.

 

Abdel Sadeq emphasized the deep strategic and historical ties between Egypt and China, underlining Cairo University's commitment to strengthening collaborations with top-ranked Chinese institutions like Peking University. He highlighted the vital role played by the Confucius Institute at Cairo University in promoting Chinese language and culture, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two institutions.

 

Ren Yu Zhong expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Cairo University, praising its academic prestige. He voiced an interest in expanding joint initiatives and increasing the number of student exchanges between the two universities.

 

The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts, commemorative shields, and group photographs, marking the beginning of a promising collaboration between the two academic institutions.
