CAIRO – 13 December 2024: The Ministry of Religious Endowments has inaugurated 30 newly renovated and reconstructed mosques on Friday, December 13, 2024. The projects span across various governorates, with 14 mosques completely rebuilt and 16 others undergoing significant maintenance and upgrades.
Since July 2024, a total of 497 mosques have been opened, including 363 rebuilt and 134 renovated. Over the past decade, from July 2014 to date, the Ministry has reconstructed, renovated, and furnished 12,578 mosques at an estimated cost of EGP 20.176 billion.
The initiative covers a wide range of regions, demonstrating the Ministry’s commitment to accessibility:
Beheira Governorate: Reconstruction included Al-Rahma Mosque in Idku, Al-Rahman Mosque in Mahmoudiyah, and Al-Salam Al-Gharbi Mosque in Kafr Al-Dawwar. Maintenance was completed at Al-Huda Mosque in Kom Hamada.
Minya Governorate: Al-Farjani Mosque in Abu Qurqas and Abdel-Galil Lamloom Mosque in Samalut were rebuilt.
North Sinai Governorate: Abu Amira Mosque in Bir al-Abed was reconstructed.
Beni Suef Governorate: Al-Bahri Mosque in Dachtout and Al-Saadi Mosque in Al-Fashn underwent reconstruction.
Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate: Multiple mosques were rebuilt or maintained, including Al-Rahma Mosque in Al-Hamoul and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in Qaleen.
Dakahlia Governorate: Abdel-Moneim Sorour Mosque in Al-Stamouni was reconstructed.
Gharbia Governorate: Al-Ahly Mosque in Tanta received extensive work.
New Valley Governorate: Ahl Al-Bayt Mosque was newly constructed in Al-Kharga.
Ismailia Governorate: Abu Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah Mosque in Al-Qassasin was reconstructed.
Asyut Governorate: Projects included the rebuilding of Al-Haridi Mosque and the maintenance of Al-Salam Mosque.
Qena Governorate: Extensive renovations were completed, including Al-Atiq Mosque in Farshut and multiple mosques in Al-Arki.
These projects underline the Ministry’s dedication to providing modern, welcoming environments for worshippers. The upgrades aim to ensure that mosques serve not only as places of prayer but also as centers for spiritual and intellectual growth.
This initiative reflects the Ministry's holistic approach to the physical, spiritual, and intellectual enhancement of Egypt's houses of worship.
