US Trade Agency provides grant to reduce methane emissions in Egypt

CAIRO - 12 December 2024: Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, US Ambassador to Cairo Hiro Mustafa Garg, and Ambassador Dr. Sameh Abu El-Enein, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration for American Affairs, witnessed the signing ceremony of a grant agreement provided by the US Trade and Development Agency worth $959,006.
 
The grant was in favor of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation to prepare a roadmap to reduce methane emissions in the Egyptian petroleum sector through the global consultant (Global S&P) at the Cabinet headquarters in the government district in the New Administrative Capital.
 
The agreement was signed by Eng. Salah Abdel Karim, CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and Inoh Ebong, Director of the US Trade and Development Agency, in the presence of Geologist Alaa El-Batal, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Supervisor of Safety, Environment and Energy Efficiency, Karl Kress - Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Eurasia at the US Trade and Development Agency, and Gretchen Ranch Evans - Director of Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa at the US Trade and Development Agency.
