CAIRO – 11 December 2024: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty had a meeting with Irish Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin during the last leg of the European tour of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
During the meeting, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on launching a political consultation mechanism between Egypt and Ireland, thus reflecting the leap in the Egyptian-Irish ties over the past period that was crowned by President Sisi's visit.
This reflected keenness on building on the outcome of the presidential visit to enhance bilateral ties in various cooperation domains, especially in the political, economic, and cultural fields.
He commended Ireland's stand regarding the Palestinian cause and recognizing the state of Palestine, underlining the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to realize ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure delivery of humanitarian aid
