Egypt calls for adopting a comprehensive political process in Syria without foreign interference

CAIRO - 10 December 2024: Egypt called on Tuesday for adopting a comprehensive political process in Syria without foreign interference. 

This was said in an official Tuesday statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Egypt continues to follow the developments witnessed by the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, and stresses that this delicate stage in the history of Syria requires the concerted efforts of all its people to launch a comprehensive political process with pure Syrian national ownership without external dictates or interference, said the statement.

The statement also stresses that the process should preserve and support the unity and stability of Syria and its people with all its components and segments, adopts a comprehensive and inclusive approach for all Syrian national forces, and is consistent with Security Council Resolution 2254, which paves the way for the participation of all Syrians in shaping the future and rebuilding state institutions in sisterly Syria, and its return to regain the position it deserves in the Arab and international systems.

Egypt also affirms - according to the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - its keenness "to communicate with the brothers in Syria, and to make every effort to ensure the success of the comprehensive political process that achieves the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people, and blocks the path of any attempt to exploit the current situation to undermine Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and prepares the appropriate conditions for starting the reconstruction phase and the voluntary, safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons to their homes."
