CAIRO – 10 December 2024: In the framework of following up on developments in the Arab Republic of Syria, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty made Tuesday a phone call to his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to exchange views.
The two ministers agreed on continuous coordination on regional affairs in general, and the Syrian scene in specific, and on concerting efforts on the regional and international levels to support the Syrian state's sovereignty, safety, and territorial integrity. There was also congruence on the importance of fostering a political process that leads to stability and ending the suffering of the Syrian people.
Minister Abdelatty showcased the pillars of the Egyptian stance on the Syrian issue, saying it advocates a purely Syrian political process without any foreign interference in order to prevent the exploitation of the situation by any party in a way that undermines Syria's interests, sovereignty and regional integration.
The minister stressed that the political process had to be inclusive, reflect population diversity, and adopt a comprehensive approach with the aim of reinstating stability as well as Syria's regional and international role.
