CAIRO- 10 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi departed Oslo, Norway, heading to Dublin, Ireland, marking the conclusion of his European tour. In Dublin, he is scheduled to meet with the President and Prime Minister of Ireland to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation and aligning positions on international issues and crises of mutual concern.
Before leaving Norway, President El-Sisi held meetings with key Norwegian executives, including the CEO of Empower, a company specializing in renewable energy, the CEO of Golar, a leading gas liquefaction company, the CEO of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and the CEO of the Norwegian-African Business Association.
According to the Presidential Spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shinawy, the meetings addressed Egypt's economic development policies and its commitment to empowering the private sector while attracting more foreign direct investments.
President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s priority to develop its renewable energy sector, leveraging the country’s abundant natural resources and advanced infrastructure.
The President also highlighted Egypt's national strategy to expand the use of renewable energy, expressing appreciation for the existing collaboration with Empower and other Norwegian companies. He underscored Egypt's eagerness to strengthen these partnerships and explore new opportunities for mutual benefit.
The discussions also explored avenues for tripartite cooperation in Africa to support the continent’s development efforts. The President reviewed the contributions of Egyptian companies in Africa and how their expertise could be leveraged to deliver tangible support to the region and its people.
Following the meetings, President El-Sisi witnessed the signing of a contract between Empower and Majid Al Futtaim for a solar energy project in Egypt, aimed at supporting industrial energy needs.
This engagement underscores Egypt’s proactive role in fostering international cooperation, advancing sustainable energy solutions, and reinforcing its economic ties with global partners.
