CAIRO – 9 December 2024: Cairo International Center for Conflict-Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), and Southern African Development Community Regional Peacekeeping Training Centre (SADC RPTC) signed Sunday a cooperation agreement.
The agreement is aimed at upgrading the training and qualification on peacekeeping missions carried out through the United Nations and the African Union. In addition, there will be training on combating extremism, reinforcing the role of women and youth in establishing peace and security, and averting the negative impact of climate change on stability.
Further, there will be training on disarmament, demobilization and reintegration. The agreement also sets a framework for consultation between the two centers on issues of joint concern.
SADC comprises 16 members that are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
