CAIRO - 6 December 2024: The Egyptian government has strongly denounced Israel's seizure of the buffer zone with Syria and adjacent command sites. In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt characterized the act as an occupation of Syrian territory and a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty. The move also breaches the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria.
Egypt stressed that Israel's actions are inconsistent with international law, undermining Syria's territorial integrity. The statement accused Israel of exploiting Syria's current instability to expand its territorial control and impose a new reality on the ground, further violating international legal norms.
Egypt urged the United Nations Security Council and the international community to take decisive action against Israel’s aggression. The call aims to ensure Syria’s sovereignty over its entire territory and prevent further escalation in the region.
The Egyptian government reaffirmed its commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity, emphasizing the need for international cooperation to safeguard the region's stability and uphold international law.
