CAIRO – 9 December 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi met on Monday with King Harald V of Norway, as part of the official visit that the President is making to Norway as part of his European tour.
King Harald V welcomed President Sisi according to presidency spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy and pointed out his country's appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt in Africa and the Middle East, and praising the momentum witnessed by relations between the two countries in recent years.
President Sisi thanked King Harald V for the warm reception, stressing the importance of the visit in light of it being the first visit by an Egyptian president to Norway since the start of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1936, praising the bilateral relations and the development they have witnessed in recent years.
President Sisi also invited the King of Norway to visit Egypt to participate in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The official spokesman explained that during the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate positions in international forums on issues of common interest. They also reviewed the situation in the Middle East and the calming efforts led by Egypt to restore stability in the region.
