President Sisi emphasizes Egypt's interest in expanding production of green energy

CAIRO – 9 December 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi emphasized on Monday Egypt's interest in investing and expanding the production of green energy, noting Egypt's welcome to cooperate with Norway in the field of producing green hydrogen using renewable energy sources.

President Sisi statements came during meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo, according to spokesman for the Presidency, Mohamed El-Shennawy.

The two sides praised the positive developments and momentum witnessed by bilateral relations in various fields, the spokesman added.

They also stressed importance of working on enhancing economic, trade and investment relations between Cairo and Oslo, as well as enhancing cooperation at the level of the business sector and chambers of commerce and industry, in addition to raising the level of trade exchange between the two countries.

The official spokesman said that the meeting witnessed the two sides' agreement on the importance of maintaining the periodicity of political consultations and coordinating positions on common regional and international issues, especially with regard to supporting the Palestinian cause and restoring stability in the Middle East.

A memorandum of understanding was signed on the sidelines of the meeting to launch a mechanism for political consultation between the two countries.
