CAIRO – 9 December 2024: Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre received on Monday Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who arrived on Sunday in Oslo, the capital of Norway, on the second leg of a European tour that he initiated with a visit to Denmark over the past two days.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Norwegian Prime Minister held a talks session and then witnessed the signing of several bilateral agreements.
Upon his arrival on Sunday, President Sisi participated in an informal tea reception in Oslo, in response to an invitation from the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre.
This reception was held in honor of President Sisi at the start of his visit to Norway as part of his European tour.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Mohamed El-Shennawy, said that the tea reception organized by the Norwegian prime minister reflects Norway's appreciation for Egypt and the President. It is worth noting that it is an uncustomary gesture by the Norwegian prime minister to host any event for a foreign official during the weekend. The prime minister also made it a point to host the tea reception at his residence.
The Norwegian prime minister welcomed President Sisi, expressing pride in this historical visit, which marks the first time for an Egyptian president in Norway. He conveyed deep respect for the President.
President El-Sisi expressed gratitude for this kind gesture from the Norwegian Prime Minister, seeing it as a positive sign for the promising future of the relationship between the two friendly countries.
