President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi signs the distinguished visitors' guestbook at the Danish Parliament, 7 December 2024 - Presidency
CAIRO – 7 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday concluded his visit to Denmark, marking the initial stop on his three-leg European tour, which includes visits to Norway and Ireland.
This visit also signifies the first time an Egyptian president has visited Denmark since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in June 1922.
At the conclusion of his visit, Sisi hosted a dinner banquet in honor of King Frederik X of Denmark and Queen Mary.
“I am proud to be among you today, reflecting the spirit of friendship, cooperation and love that unites us, and our genuine desire to strengthen the political, economic and cultural ties between our two countries, based on mutual respect and true friendship,” Sisi said during the dinner.
He added that his meetings with Denmark’s king, the prime minister, and the speaker of the parliament witnessed a consensus on the importance of bolstering Egyptian-Danish relations at all levels.
“Our discussions also confirmed our mutual keenness to coordinate on regional and international issues, in order to achieve our common goal of establishing regional and international security and peace and achieving prosperity for our peoples and the peoples of the world,” Sisi added.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Sisi and Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen signed today the declaration for strategic partnership between both countries during the president’s first visit to Copenhagen.
In a joint press conference with Frederiksen, Sisi indicated a common understanding demonstrated during their meeting earlier today to advance bilateral relations in political, economic, investment and cultural fields.
The president added that the joint declaration will significantly advance cooperation between Egypt and Denmark in a wide range of sectors, primarily maritime transport, energy and green transition, health and scientific research, investment, agriculture, tourism, communication and Information technology, combating illegal migration and terrorism, and fighting poverty and desertification.
Meanwhile, Sisi commended Denmark’s understanding and support of Egypt’s efforts to safeguard its water security, which represents an existential priority, in light of the severe water scarcity that Egypt faces.
The president’s discussions with the Danish officials encompassed a range of regional issues, including the Gaza war, Lebanon ceasefire, as well as the situation in Syria and Sudan, the security of the Red Sea and the Ukrainian crisis.
