Egypt's PM Mostafa Madbouly (R) meets with Lebanon's Deputy PM Saadeh Al Shami in Cairo - Egyptian Cabinet

CAIRO – December 6, 2024: Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Al Shami emphasized the significant cost of the recent Israeli war in Lebanon, expressing his anticipation of Egypt's ongoing support amid challenging reconstruction efforts.

In a meeting with Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Cairo on Thursday, Al Shami expressed his aspiration for enhancing cooperation with the Egyptian government in several important economic matters.

He expressed keenness on exchanging experiences between the two governments in implementing the electronic invoicing system in light of the successful Egyptian experience in applying it.

Al Shami noted that the Lebanese government seeks to expand the tax base and increase revenues, enabling it to manage the necessary expenditure resources for priority projects and services.

Attending the meeting, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said he is ready to cooperate with those authorized by the Lebanese government to exchange technical and technological expertise, enabling the transfer of the e-invoicing system experience to Lebanon.

Kouchouk stressed that the application of e-invoicing in Egypt has greatly contributed to revenue growth, mentioning a possible meeting with the delegation from the Lebanese Ministry of Finance currently visiting Egypt to begin immediate consult on implementing the system in Lebanon.

The prime minister, for his part, stressed Egypt’s continued support to Lebanon across all files to achieve stability and advance development in the brotherly country.

Madbouly said Egypt will push for the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement agreed upon in Lebanon, contributing to achieving Lebanese security and sovereignty.

He added that Egypt will also push for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, emphasizing full support for the Lebanese state institutions.
