CAIRO – 5 December 2024: Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity and Vice President of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Maya Morsi, praised on Thursday, Egypt’s humanitarian role towards the unprecedented humanitarian disasters witnessed by the world and the region, and the clear support for the Egyptian Red Crescent in playing an effective role in the crises of Sudan and Gaza.
“Now, as we stand among you here, volunteers from the Egyptian Red Crescent stand on the Egyptian-Sudanese and Palestinian borders, working day and night in harsh weather conditions, not caring about the long distances or being away from their families and relatives,” Morsi said during the Egyptian Red Crescent celebration on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day.
She added that the number of volunteering hours for volunteers during the year reached 1,064,429 hours, and that they carried out more than 15,000 missions in all governorates of the country, and reached with their services to more than 10 million beneficiaries during the year 2024.
The Minister of Social Solidarity concluded her speech by saying: “We extend our sincere greetings and appreciation to all volunteers and we stress on their hands, and we look forward to more effort and giving from them in a way that benefits humanity and befits the name of our beloved country, Egypt.”
