CAIRO – 4 December 2024:  Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty received on Wednesday a phone call from, US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken where the two ministers exchanged views on the successive developments in the Middle East region.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the two ministers discussed the rapid developments in northern Syria and their repercussions on the security and stability of the region, where Minister Abdel Aati stressed Egypt's position calling for the necessity of respecting Syrian sovereignty and the unity and integrity of Syrian territories, supporting its national institutions and the importance of protecting civilians.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the developments in the Gaza Strip, where Minister Abdel Aati stressed the necessity of intensifying regional and international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire and the sustainable and unconditional access of humanitarian aid to Gaza, reviewing in this regard the proceedings of the Cairo Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza, which Cairo hosted on December 2, which reflected a broad international will to support the Palestinian people on the humanitarian level and the necessity for Israel to stop its arrogant policy that leads to obstructing the access of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Minister Abdel Ati also reviewed the visit he made to Port Sudan on Tuesday, stressing Egypt's position in support of Sudanese national institutions and respect for the unity and integrity of Sudanese territories, highlighting in this context the Egyptian efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Sudan and enable regional and international humanitarian and relief organizations to work in Sudan in light of the worsening humanitarian situation.
