CAIRO - 3 December 2024: Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk and his Saudi counterpart Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, discussed on Tuesday means to enhance joint cooperation between their two countries.
During his participation in the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which is being held in Riyadh, the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture stressed the importance of this meeting in strengthening agricultural cooperation as a fundamental pillar for achieving food security.
The two ministers tackled ways to exchange expertise and modern agricultural technologies, and increasing opportunities for trade exchange of agricultural goods and products.
They also emphasized cooperation in sustainable agriculture, water resources management, and improving crop productivity, as well as joint investment in agricultural projects, such as modern farms and agricultural infrastructure.
They also touched on the possibility of cooperation in the field of agricultural research, developing new crop strains, and combating agricultural pests and diseases, especially in light of climate change, in addition to joint efforts in combating desertification.
For his part, the Saudi Minister of Agriculture indicated that this meeting comes within the framework of the deep historical relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, expressing his aspiration for more cooperation enhancing the position of the two countries in the field of food security.
