Minister Abdel-Ati stressed Egypt's keenness to engage effectively in regional and international efforts aimed at achieving stability in brotherly Sudan, in a manner that preserves its interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting Egypt's efforts to resume Sudan's activities in the African Union.
The official spokesman added that the visit to Port Sudan also witnessed an official consultation session between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Sudanese counterpart Ali Youssef El-Sherif, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, where Minister Abdel-Ati stressed Egypt's full support for Sudan, its leadership and people, and Egypt's keenness to make efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed Egypt's position calling for an immediate ceasefire and accelerating the pace of humanitarian aid delivery, and pointed out the importance of cooperation with the initiatives of the United Nations, its agencies and international relief organizations to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The two sides were keen to discuss the water security file in detail, in light of the two countries' identical positions as they are downstream countries on the Nile River, and agreed to continue close coordination and cooperation jointly to preserve and protect Egyptian and Sudanese water security.
