CAIRO – 2 December 2024: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed on Monday his country's appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to enhance regional security, in light of the continued Israeli aggression and systematic daily targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

He stressed during his speech at the Cairo Ministerial Meeting To Enhance Humanitarian Response in Gaza that the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip are subjected to forced displacement and deliberate destruction as a result of clear violations of international humanitarian law.

Bin Farhan added that the repercussions of the ongoing escalation and the expansion of the regional conflict threaten to lead to a comprehensive war that is difficult to contain.

Saudi Foreign Minister noted that the humanitarian crisis in Palestine has reached an unbearable level and that the situation in the region cannot be allowed to deteriorate further, as more than 40,000 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of the barbaric war.

Bin Farhan’s statements came during his participation at the Cairo Ministerial Meeting To Enhance Humanitarian Response In Gaza under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi.

The conference is attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed, and delegations of 103 countries, organizations, and financial institutions.

The convention is aimed at garnering clear commitments on providing aid to Gaza, ensuring international backing to the sustainability of aid supply to the Strip, mobilizing immediate aid, and planning an early recovery of the enclave.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said in his speech that Israel must withdraw from the Palestinian side of Rafah border crossing.

Abdel Aaty strongly condemned the illegal legislation banning UNRWA‘s work in the Palestinian Territories. He emphasized that there is no substitute to UNRWA and that it cannot be dispensed with.

The top diplomat highlighted that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unprecedented due to the ongoing, brutal Israeli aggression that is exacerbated by decades of occupation. Meanwhile, the inability of international organizations and legal system to take deterring steps to stop the Palestinian bloodshed.

The minister underscored that more than 2,000 UNRWA buildings have been destroyed, including 65 of its schools. Further, 85% of the strip area has been evacuated by Israeli military orders, displacing 2 million people and killing than 43,000, mostly women and children.
