CAIRO – 2 December 2024: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held several meetings on Monday on the sidelines of the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza.

They also exchanged views on current developments in the Middle East, the importance of reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the concerted international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The meeting also discussed the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil, which are witnessing an increasing development, as reflected in the meeting of the President of the Republic with Brazilian President Lula da Silva in November 2024, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, and the signing of the "Strategic Partnership" document between the two countries.
The two ministers expressed their aspiration to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation in various fields and explore new opportunities that serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, in addition to tripartite cooperation in Africa.

Abdelatty appreciated Slovenia’s supportive stance of the lawful rights of the Palestinian people.
Ljubljana has been adopting a balanced position regarding the aggravating developments in the region, he said. The Egyptian foreign minister also praised Slovenia’s recognition of the State of Palestine in May 2024.
Slovenia has voted for all international resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of aid to the war-torn enclave, Abdelatty noted.
He posted Fajon on Egypt’s efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing that international moves are needed to support the implementation of the two-state solution and recognize an independent Palestinian state.

He praised efforts exerted by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres over the past months in this regard.
The top diplomat underscored continued Egyptian attempts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated Cairo’s commitment to permanently cooperating with the UN to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave.
Egypt rejects the Israeli military presence on the Palestinian side of Rafah Crossing and the Philadelphi Corridor, as well as Israeli acts to hinder the flow of aid to Gaza, Abdelatty stressed.
He also voiced support for the UNRWA and rejected Israel’s decision to suspend activities of the international body in Gaza
WFP's Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Carl Skau

Egypt is willing to provide all facilitations to support WFP action, Abdelatty told Skau during the meeting held on the fringe of the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza, which will kick off later Mondy.
The WFP is still working despite grave challenges and repeated targeting of its staff, Abdelatty said, noting that Israel’s starvation policy has unprecedentedly aggravated the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
