CAIRO - 1 December 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty will receive his Malian counterpart Abdoulaye Diop, on Sunday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the New Administrative Capital.
The two ministers will hold a bilateral meeting, followed by an expanded discussion session, and then a joint press conference, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
The two ministers will discuss the most important files of common interest and the most important international issues, the statement added.
On the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York last September, Abdelatty and Diop held a bilateral meeting. Abdelatty shed light on Egypt's comprehensive vision in dealing with the challenges facing the region and in backing the efforts of national governments and state institutions, in a way that enables them to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining security and achieving stability, extending control over their territories, and confronting terrorist groups.
They also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Sahel region and West Africa, explored bilateral cooperation domains, and agreed on stepping up coordination on issues of mutual concern at the regional and international levels.
Egypt’s trade with the Sahel and Sahara States, which include Mali, grew by 10.2 percent, reaching $6.5 billion in 2023 (up from $5.9 billion in 2022), according to the Egyptian State Information Service data.
