CAIRO- 30 November 2024:  Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, reviewed the new and ongoing projects in the health sector, emphasizing that over the past decade, 1,220 new health projects have been implemented with investments exceeding EGP 180 billion.

These projects have focused on establishing new hospitals and healthcare centers, he added.

He noted that in the past two years alone, 24 projects have been completed at a cost of approximately EGP 8 billion, including newly opened hospitals and operational healthcare facilities.

Madbouly outlined that during the current fiscal year, 20 health sector projects are under implementation, with a total investment of about EGP 10.5 billion.

He further highlighted that next year will see the launch of 54 new projects, the largest portion of which will enter service at an estimated cost of EGP 60 billion. These new facilities are expected to add more than 10,000 new beds to the national healthcare system, with all projects slated to begin operations in the next fiscal year.

The Prime Minister stressed that these health sector developments are being implemented in parallel with the rollout of the comprehensive health insurance system, which aims to significantly enhance the accessibility and quality of healthcare services across the country.

In this context, Dr. Madbouly also referred to his recent meeting with Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, to discuss the second phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system. This phase will cover five governorates: Damietta, Minya, Kafr El-Sheikh, North Sinai, and Matrouh.

The decision was made to integrate these governorates into the system progressively over the next three years, with investments totaling approximately EGP 115 billion.

The Prime Minister emphasized that these investments are entirely separate from the routine budget for health sector projects nationwide and are in addition to the funds allocated for the "Decent Life" presidential initiative, which also aims to improve healthcare and living conditions across the country.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the construction site of Nile Medical City and the ongoing development of Nasser Institute Hospital, on Saturday.

He was accompanied by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population; Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo; Dr. Anwar Ismail, Assistant Minister of Health for National Projects; Dr. Mahmoud Saeed, Director of Nasser Institute Hospital; and Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers.

Madbouly continued his tour of health facilities in Cairo and Giza governorates today, visiting the construction site of the new Bulaq Abu El-Ela General Hospital.
