CAIRO- 29 November 2024: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration is closely monitoring the investigation into the death of young Egyptian Rami El Gamal in Italy.
Upon learning of the incident, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Abdelatty instructed the Egyptian Consulate General in Milan to follow up on the investigation with Italian authorities.
The consulate is tasked with reviewing the relevant reports and ensuring a full understanding of the circumstances surrounding his death once the investigation is completed.
The Ministry extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, praying for Allah‘s mercy on his soul and for strength and comfort for his loved ones during this difficult time.
Al Arabiya Net reported on Thursday that violent clashes erupted between Italian police and immigrants, predominantly Egyptians, in the city of Milan following the death of Rami El Gamal, who was run over and killed during a police pursuit.
According to Italian media and eyewitnesses, protests broke out in the Corvetto neighborhood, led by local immigrants, in response to El Gamal's death.
