CAIRO – 27 November 2024: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdel Rahman al-Thani chaired on Wednesday at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, an expanded discussion session on ways to support joint cooperation in various fields.
During the session, Madbouly expressed his appreciation for the visit of the Qatari Prime Minister to Egypt, accompanied by the brothers from the Qatari government, which comes within the framework of the two countries' keenness to intensify communication and joint coordination between them in various regional files of common interest.
Madbouly pointed out that the meeting of President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, was a very fruitful meeting, as it was emphasized that the two countries desire to enhance joint cooperation in a number of areas that we look forward to achieving rapid progress in implementing on the ground during the coming short period.
The Prime Minister explained that one of the areas of joint cooperation between Egypt and Qatar during the next stage will be through a very important real estate investment project in the North Coast region.
Madbouly also stressed that Qatari companies specialized in the field of construction and building have proven great efficiency during the implementation of projects that took place during the period of Qatar hosting the World Cup and have acquired great experience in the field of real estate development, which is an important opportunity to establish partnerships with them here in Egypt to invest in this promising sector in the Egyptian market, whether in the North Coast or in other areas, or even cooperate with Egyptian construction companies currently operating in the African market in many projects.
He added that today's consultations with the Qatari side confirmed that Cairo and Doha have a real desire to enhance trade exchange rates, stressing that the Egyptian side will cooperate with the relevant Qatari authorities to achieve these targets, in light of the great potential enjoyed by the two countries.
Madbouly stressed the Qatari side also expressed its desire to cooperate with Egypt in the field of manufacturing, noting in this regard that Egypt has a large number of investment opportunities and a diverse list of various projects in the industrial sector that can be partnered with the Qatari side.
The Prime Minister added the Qatari side can benefit from establishing industrial partnerships in Egypt by exporting the products of these projects to the African market, of which Egypt is the main gateway, in addition to exporting these products to countries that have free trade agreements with Egypt.
Madbouly pointed out that there is a request from the Qatari side regarding investment opportunities in the tourism sector in the North Coast region, and the Egyptian government welcomes this desire from the Qatari brothers.
The Egyptian PM added that there is also a list, which we will present to the Qatari brothers, that includes a group of investment opportunities in this sector in the Greater Cairo area, as well as in the New Administrative Capital, which are available opportunities for acquisition or partnership with Egyptian partners from the private sector, explaining: “We are ready to move on this file as soon as possible.”
He added that there are also joint discussions with the Qatari side for investment cooperation in the ports and logistics zones sector, and there is also a desire from the brothers in Qatar to invest in establishing data centers.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Egypt also has important investment opportunities in the New Administrative Capital, whether in the real estate or tourism investment sector, explaining that Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman of the Administrative Capital Company, had presented these opportunities during his visit to Doha last October; to participate in the Qatar Real Estate Forum to cooperate with Qatari developers.
Madbouly expressed Egypt's keenness to maintain the regularity of the Egyptian-Qatari Investment Forum, the first session of which was held in Cairo in November 2023, in order to enhance communication between representatives of the business and private sectors in the two countries, expressing his aspiration to hold a new session of the forum during the first quarter of next year 2025.
The talks were attended from the Egyptian side by Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Industry and Transport, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Ambassador Ihab Fahmy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs.
On the Qatari side, the talks were attended by Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Minister of Municipality, Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Egypt, and a number of Qatari officials.
