CAIRO – 27 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, where both leaders held a session of talks with the participation of their respective delegations.

According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, the discussions focused on regional issues and efforts to align positions regarding the developments in Palestinian territories. The two leaders emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and the importance of building on the outcomes of the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summits recently held in Riyadh.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the success of the upcoming Gaza Humanitarian Response Conference, which Cairo will host on December 2, stressing its critical role in achieving its goals. They called for the international community to take responsibility in ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, underscoring the pivotal role of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in this effort.

President Sisi praised Jordan’s ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people, while King Abdullah II expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to enforce the ceasefire and ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza.

Both leaders reaffirmed their firm rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from their lands. They emphasized that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is essential for the implementation of the two-state solution and remains the primary guarantee for restoring stability in the region.

The leaders also discussed the situation in Lebanon, welcoming the ceasefire and reiterating their commitment to Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, and stability. They condemned any aggression against Lebanon and stressed the importance of all parties taking responsibility to halt the ongoing escalation in the region.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, noted that the meeting also reinforced the deep bilateral relations between the two countries, with both leaders expressing their commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors to fulfill the aspirations of their peoples for progress and prosperity.
