CAIRO – 27 November 2024: Egypt is poised to become a significant player in the global vaccine manufacturing industry, according to Hesham Bader, Vice President of the Unified Procurement Authority. In a recent announcement, Bader revealed that the country aims to produce approximately 385 million vaccine doses by 2030.
Egypt's commitment to vaccine manufacturing is underscored by the establishment of the Egyptian Vaccine Manufacturers Alliance (EVMA).
This strategic initiative aims to develop local capabilities, foster innovation, and position Egypt as a regional hub for vaccine production. The EVMA will also establish a regional training center to equip Egyptian and African professionals with the necessary skills for biomanufacturing.
Bader emphasized the importance of this initiative in transforming Egypt from a consumer of technology to a producer. By developing a robust domestic vaccine manufacturing industry, Egypt can reduce its reliance on imports, enhance its healthcare security, and expand its exports to African markets.
