CAIRO - 26 November 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aaty met Tuesday with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani to increase trade exchange and activate the Egyptian-Italian Business Council.
On the sidelines of the G7 meeting of foreign ministers in Italy, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations in light of the high-level coordination between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Tamim Khilaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Minister Abdel Aaty emphasized supporting relations between the public and private sectors, pointing to the positive role of Italian companies in various sectors in the Egyptian market.
Abdel Aaty reviewed Egypt's efforts to attract foreign investments and the reforms taken by the government to create an investment climate, encouraging more investments by Italian businessmen in light of the promising opportunities available in the Egyptian market.
The two ministers also discussed coordination to support nominations in various international forums, cooperation in food security, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, transportation and logistics.
Further, they touched on cooperation in the field of immigration, where the Egyptian minister highlighted expanding vocational training cooperation to create skilled workers for the Egyptian and Italian markets.
In regard to developments in the Middle East, Abdel Aaty stressed the importance of unconditional access to humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
As Cairo will host a ministerial conference to enhance humanitarian response in Gaza on December 2, the top diplomat warned of the gravity of the situation in the West Bank as a result of Israel's continued settlement expansion policy.
