He described as "clear" and "respected" the Egyptian stance towards the continued support of their country.

Hajjar, in statements to MENA, said that Egypt's support goes beyond mere statements, yet the country is continuously providing medical, food and humanitarian aid to Lebanon.

Egypt had provided assistance in the wake of Beirut explosion and during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hajjar said, highlighting Egypt's commitment to Arab solidarity.

He added that Egypt supports the political path of implementing UN Resolution 1701 on ceasefire alongside exerting utmost effort at the regional and international levels to save Lebanon and halt the Israeli aggression.

Hajjar hailed the cooperation between the Lebanese and Egyptian ministries of Social Affairs as "historical", in light of the the deep-rooted ties between Egypt and Lebanon.

He added that since his appointment, he maintained contact with his Egyptian side.

The visits between Egyptian and Lebanese social affairs ministers are still ongoing, Hajjar said, pointing out to the latest visit of Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Affairs Badr Abdelatty to Lebanon that demonstrated Egypt's continued support to Lebanon.

The Lebanese capital, Beirut, and the southern region have been suffering unabated bombardment, exacerbating the dire situation and pushing the country towards a humanitarian catastrophe, the Lebanese minister said.

He added that the number of people displaced from the bombarded areas to partially safe regions increases every hour.

More than 1,670 shelters are housing over 200,000 Lebanese people across the partially safe areas, Hajjar said, noting that over 800,000 internally displace persons are staying with friends or relatives since the start of the aggression.
