CAIRO – 25 November 2024: The Ministry of Transport has announced the construction of seven integrated logistic corridors across Egypt to connect production areas, such as industrial, agricultural, and mining zones, to maritime ports and urban hubs.

This initiative aligns with the country’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to position Egypt as a regional hub for logistics, transportation, and transit trade.

Sokhna-Alexandria Logistic Corridor

This corridor connects Ain Sokhna Port on the Red Sea to the Greater Alexandria Port, passing through key locations such as the 10th of Ramadan City Dry Port, the industrial zones in the 10th of Ramadan, 6th of October City, and Cairo, the largest urban center in the Middle East. The corridor integrates rail networks, including the Robeiki-10th of Ramadan-Belbeis railway, spanning 63.5 km.

Arish-Taba Logistic Corridor

Starting at Arish Port on the Mediterranean Sea and extending to Taba Port on the Gulf of Aqaba, this corridor traverses the heavy industrial zones of central Sinai. It supports ongoing logistic developments in areas such as Rafah, Al-Arish, Al-Hassana, and Ras Sedr.

Cairo-Alexandria Logistic Corridor

This corridor links Cairo’s Beshteel railway station to Greater Alexandria Port. It incorporates the dry ports of Sadat City and 6th of October City and leverages rail connections via the Beshteel-Ettehad-Etay El-Baroud line, as well as the Kafr Dawood-Sadat and Mansheyat Nasser-6th of October railways, measuring 36 km and 68 km, respectively.

Tanta-Mansoura-Damietta Logistic Corridor

Situated in the heart of the Nile Delta, this corridor serves agricultural production zones and industrial areas in cities such as Quesna and Tanta. It connects these regions to Damietta Port via the Tanta-Mansoura-Damietta railway, which includes the Damietta New City Dry Port.

Gargoub-Salloum Logistic Corridor

This route begins at Gargoub Port on the Mediterranean and extends to the Salloum land port, Egypt's largest terrestrial port. It aims to boost trade between Egypt and Libya, linking the two ports via a 223-km rail line and including a logistic zone east of Salloum.

Cairo-Aswan-Abu Simbel Logistic Corridor

Part of the high-speed electric rail network, this corridor aligns with the Western Desert Highway and passes through logistic zones and dry ports in locations such as New Fayoum, Kom Abu Radi, and New Sohag. It also supports agricultural reclamation areas in Toshka and East Oweinat while enhancing connectivity to Abu Simbel’s tourism hub.

Safaga-Qena-Abu Tartur Logistic Corridor

Spanning from Safaga Port on the Red Sea to Abu Tartur, this corridor utilizes the third line of the high-speed rail system, as well as the Safaga-Qena-Abu Tartur diesel railway. It supports mining and logistic activities in the region.

These corridors are designed to streamline Egypt’s logistic network by integrating railways, dry ports, and modern transport systems. By enhancing trade routes and reducing transport costs, the corridors aim to bolster Egypt’s position as a vital regional logistics and trade hub.
