Sisi Invites President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Visit Egypt

CAIRO - 22 November 2024: During his visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Badr Abdelatty, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, delivered a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi. 

 

The message expressed President El-Sisi's and Egypt's appreciation for the strong bilateral ties with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, highlighting the long-standing historical relationship between the two countries and their leaderships. It also included an invitation for President Tshisekedi to visit Cairo in the near future.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the President's directives to advance bilateral relations to new horizons, aiming to further deepen the strong ties between the two countries and achieve their shared political, economic, commercial, and water-related interests.

 

Abdelatty also briefed the Congolese President on the content of his discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the signing of a number of agreements, in addition to arranging to hold the joint committee as soon as possible, establishing a joint business council. He also discussed Egypt's full support for all development projects underway in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including in the sectors of energy, agriculture, irrigation, transportation, infrastructure, and medicine.

 

For his part, President Félix Tshisekedi expressed his deep pride in the historic bilateral relations with Egypt and the strong, brotherly bond he shares with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. 

 

He warmly welcomed the invitation to visit Egypt at the earliest opportunity, emphasizing that Egypt is a sister country. 

 

President Tshisekedi reiterated his commitment to advancing and developing bilateral relations across all sectors, including trade, investment, and development. He also expressed his gratitude for Egypt's steadfast support of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's development efforts.
