CAIRO – 18 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

 

The official spokesperson for the Presidency Ahmed Fahmy stated that the meeting focused on ways to further strengthen the historic and fraternal relations between the two countries, highlighting their shared commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors. 

 

The discussion emphasized the significant progress in their bilateral ties in recent years, particularly in the fields of economics, trade, agriculture, livestock, and private sector collaboration.

 

The conversation also touched on Egypt's ongoing efforts to complete the construction of the Julius Nyerere Dam, a key infrastructure project on an internal river in Tanzania. 

 

President Hassan expressed her appreciation for Egypt’s support, underscoring the importance of the dam to her country’s development. 

 

President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to providing full support for development initiatives in neighboring countries, especially those in the Nile Basin.

 

Additionally, the leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation among Nile Basin countries, aiming to foster greater alignment in their efforts to achieve mutual development goals. They emphasized the importance of collective action and coordination to realize the aspirations of all parties, ensuring that progress benefits everyone without disadvantaging any nation.
