CAIRO - 18 November 2024: Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), met with Derk te Bokkel, CEO of IHC Holland, and his delegation to discuss future cooperation opportunities. The meeting, held at the SCA headquarters in Ismailia, was attended by several members of the SCA board.

 

This visit marks the first official visit by the new CEO of IHC Holland to the SCA, highlighting the strong and longstanding partnership between the two entities.

 

During the meeting, Admiral Rabie expressed his keenness to build upon the existing partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation, particularly focusing on localizing the construction of dredgers in Egyptian shipyards.

 

He commended the exceptional performance of the "Mhab Mamish" and "Hussein Tantawy" dredgers, both constructed by IHC Holland, which have played a pivotal role in the development of the southern sector of the Suez Canal.

 

Rabie emphasized the importance of continued efforts to modernize the SCA's fleet and acquire new dredgers and marine units equipped with the latest technologies to meet the growing demands of the Suez Canal. He stressed the need to adopt environmentally friendly technologies in line with global maritime industry trends.

 

For his part, Bokkel reaffirmed IHC Holland's commitment to its partnership with the SCA. He highlighted the successful track record of joint projects and expressed the company's readiness to explore new avenues of cooperation.

 

Bokkel emphasized IHC Holland's adoption of new technologies in dredger construction, enabling the use of both traditional and green fuels, thus offering flexibility and meeting the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
