CAIRO- 16 November 2024: Egyptian Foreign Minister and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met with a number of officials and Foreign Ministers of other countries, on the sidelines of the 15th Sir Bani Yas Forum in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Abdelatty met with Annette Weber, the EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed Egypt's keenness to support efforts to quickly reach a ceasefire, reach a political settlement, achieve stability in Sudan, and provide aid.
They also exchanged views on a number of issues and developments in the Horn of Africa region, in light of the challenges facing the Horn of Africa region and the escalation of tensions there.
Both sides also addressed the situation in Somalia. Dr. Abdelatty stressed Egypt's keenness to achieve stability in the Republic of Somalia by supporting state institutions, and the importance of respecting Somalia's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
The Egyptian Minister shed light on the importance of concerted international efforts to support the Somali government in achieving security, combating terrorism, and enforcing the state's sovereignty over its territory.
Meanwhile, Abdelatty met with Foreign Minister of Latvia Baiba Braže. He stressed Egypt's interest in strengthening relations with Latvia, and maintaining the periodicity of political consultations between the two countries.
The Egyptian Minister shed light on the importance of consolidating the foundations of cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Minister met with Pakistani counterpart
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration meets his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
The two ministers praised the pace of growth of bilateral relations between the two countries, and stressed the importance of continuing political consultation and permanent coordination through various mechanisms, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.
Abdelatty also exchanged views with his Pakistani counterpart regarding developments in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. They stressed the importance of stopping escalation and tensions in the region, reaching an immediate ceasefire and ensuring unconditional access to humanitarian aid without obstacles.
The two ministers also discussed a number of issues of common interest on the regional and international arenas, especially reforming the global financial system, reforming the Security Council and restoring the multilateral system.
