CAIRO - 12 November 2024: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population revealed the details of the National Health Strategy in Egypt, explaining the development in the numbers of natural increase and the difference between births and deaths (2014 - 2023).
The ministry explained the decline in the birth rate from 2.7 to 2.004, in addition to the decline in the increasing rate from 2.168 to 1.463, and death rate from 0.532 to 0.581, noting that the current situation indicates a continued decrease in the total fertility rate to reach 2.54 children per woman in 2023.
Dr. Abla Al-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, explained that the population increase in Egypt is estimated at 250,000 people every 72 days, at a rate of 3.472 per day, i.e. 144.7 people per hour and 2.4 people per minute, and one birth every 25 seconds, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
