Egypt, Nigeria discuss economic, political cooperation

CAIRO – 11 November 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty and his Nigerian counterpart Yusuf Maitama Tuggar discussed Sunday reinforcing cooperation in all fields.

 

The Egyptian minister expressed interest in the economic, trade and investment fields, highlighting that Egyptian firms have been operating in the sectors of construction and energy in many African countries.

 

The minister equally expressed readiness to provide the necessary support to Nigerian counterterrorism efforts in light of the ascendance of security threats in Sahel; and, that is by delivering training and moderate religious discourse. In that framework, he commended Nigeria for significantly combating terrorist organizations.

 

Similarly, the two ministers conferred over developments in Africa, endeavors to establish peace and security on the continent, as well as coordinating stances at the African Union and exchanging support to candidates nominated for regional and international positions.
