Egyptian FM stresses need for political settlement of Syrian crisis in meeting with counterpart

CAIRO – 11 November 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty met Sunday his Syrian counterpart Bassam El Sabagh expressing rejection to foreign interference with Syrian internal affairs, stressing the importance of respecting the country's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

 

In that context, the Egyptian minister underscored the salience of devising a political settlement to the crisis in alignment with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

 

The meeting, which was held in Riyadh ahead of the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, tackled the crises of Gaza and Lebanon so as Minister Abdel Aty presented the efforts deployed by Egypt to attain a ceasefire, inhibit the expansion of war on all fronts, and end the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories.
