CAIRO – 10 November 2024: On the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a meeting, on Sunday, with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. 

 

The two ministers praised the developed bilateral relations recently between the two sides following the mutual visits of the two countries' presidents. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Turkey in September 2024 witnessed the signing of the joint declaration of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Committee.

 

They also expressed their willingness to advance economic and investment relations and bring the volume of trade exchange between the two sides to $15 billion, increase tourism, and enhance joint cooperation in various fields.

 

The two sides also discussed the latest developments regarding the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. The two ministers agreed on the need to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and full and unconditional access to humanitarian aid. 

 

The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on a number of issues and crises in the region, including Sudan, Libya, Syria, and the Red Sea, in addition to developments in the Horn of Africa region. The two ministers agreed to continue coordination on various issues of common interest on the regional and international arenas.
