CAIRO – 10 November 2024: Egypt braces for some showers and possible thunder this Sunday, as hinted by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA). While the weather seems sunny so far, it is always a good idea to have a backup plan ready just in case the rain decides to make an appearance.
In the North Coast and northern Nile Delta areas, expect a good soaking ranging from moderate to heavy rain.
If you find yourself in Alexandria or Matrouh, it might be wise to arm yourself with an umbrella as the rain could come with a side of thunder.
In Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, North Sinai, and the southern Nile Delta, the rain is planning a lighter show with intermittent spells. So, do not fret too much; the rain is just here for a friendly visit and likely will not be causing any major traffic chaos.
Looking ahead to Monday, the rainy vibes are likely to continue in the North Coast and northern Nile Delta regions.
If you are hitting the road today, remember to play it safe. Slow down, keep it under 60 km/h if the weather turns gloomy, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.
As for the temperatures, expect a fresh start to the day with cooler mornings and evenings, while the thermometer climbs in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.
Here is a sneak peek at the average temperatures forecasted across Egypt next week, courtesy of the EMA:
- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 25, Lows: 17
- North Coast – Highs: 23, Lows: 17
- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 26, Lows: 14
- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 30, Lows: 17
Also, keep an eye out for the 'El-Maknasa' storm set to hit the coastal governorates halfway through this month. Alexandria and other northern coastal cities are bracing themselves for this heavy rainstorm, which typically lasts for a solid four days.
El-Maknasa brings with it heavy rainfall and strong winds that can make temperatures take a dip.
