President Sisi updated on preparation for New Valley governorate’s new capital

CAIRO- 9 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was briefed on work progress in various developmental projects, as part of the state's ongoing collaboration with the private sector to enhance productivity, stimulate economic growth, and increase income.

 

According to a statement released by Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy, President Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir; Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Hany Sweilam; Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Alaa El-Din Farouk; Governor of the New Valley, Major General Dr. Mohamed El-Zamlout; and Executive Director of the ‘ Future of Egypt’ Authority for Sustainable Development, Colonel Dr. Bahaa El-Ghanam.

 

The meeting discussed development efforts in the New Valley Governorate. The President reviewed government programs to improve services in the governorate. These include health ministry projects, expanding the number of remote medical treatment units, especially in rural and remote areas, and progress in the "Decent Life" initiative to maximize its benefits for citizens. Additionally, the meeting touched on housing sector projects focusing on rural homes and the expansion of service villages, as well as the land reclamation and cultivation project, which is being implemented in coordination with the Ministries of Agriculture and Irrigation and the ‘Future of Egypt’ Authority. The discussion also tackled efforts to establish a number of factories in partnership with the private sector and in coordination with the Ministry of Industry.

 

In this context, the President was briefed on work progress in ongoing efforts for the preparation of the governorate’s new capital where trial operations have begun. It was established north of Kharga City with self-financing independent of the state budget. It includes all governmental and public sector facilities in the governorate, and aims at enhancing the quality of both public and investment services, which will contribute to the governorate's development capabilities.

 

President El-Sisi gave directives to continue and intensify work on the developmental projects reviewed during the meeting. He also emphasized the importance of completing projects in the New Valley Governorate, particularly in its new capital, paving the way for its inauguration. The President stressed the need to link these projects with the government’s efforts to achieve comprehensive economic development in various fields, thus contribute to improving the standards of living and easing the lives of the citizens.
