CAIRO- 9 November 2024: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was briefed on the procedures of developing the civil aviation system on Saturday.

 

The President was briefed in details on a the whole system with all its components, whether at the level of air navigation, aircraft fleet, airports, or human cadres, said the Egyptian Presidency in a statement. 

 

The meeting reviewed the ongoing work to modernize the infrastructure of Egypt’s airports, increase their capacity, and improve the level of services provided to passengers. The President  and the concerned ministers discussed the ways  of enhancing the participation of the private sector in their management and operation.

 

The meeting also touched on the efforts aimed at keeping pace with the aviation sector to the continuous growth in the volume of incoming tourism to Egypt. It also addressed sustainable fuel projects, which are considered one of the most important future axes to achieve the aspirations of the aviation sector towards reducing carbon emissions and enhancing environmental efficiency.

 

President Sisi directed taking the necessary measures to stimulate the participation of the private sector in the efforts to develop the aviation sector. He also directed to continue intensive work at the level of all elements of the system, including Cairo International Airport, with the aim of doubling its capacity to reach a total of 60 million passengers annually instead of 30 million, provided that this is done in a manner that is consistent with international standards, and contributes to achieving comprehensive economic development, according to Egypt's Vision 2030.
