A National Dialogue meeting

A National Dialogue meeting

CAIRO - 7 November 2024: A meeting will be held soon between the National Dialogue Coordinating Committee and concerned ministers to enforce the initiative’s remaining recommendations, Talat Abdel Qawi, member of the Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue, said Thursday.

The Board of Trustees studied the proposals of political forces on the issue of subsidies, noting that there will be a mini-committee that includes the General Coordinator, head of the Technical Secretariat, and the Rapporteur of the Economic Committee to set mechanisms to put the proposals in an action plan up for discussion.

Another agenda of topics that have not been raised before will be developed to include them in the upcoming sessions, including issues of national security and foreign policy.

The Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue decided on the mechanisms for discussing the subsidies issue from a procedural perspective by holding a week of public general sessions to discuss various aspects of the subsidies issue.

Various political, civil, union and youth forces participated in the sessions, identifying those eligible for subsidies, the advantages and disadvantages of in-kind and cash subsidies, and means for subsidies to reach those who deserve them.

Next, a week of specialized sessions was held, attended by all concerned parties from experts and specialists, political parties, to executive and community institutions.

Then final sessions were held to formulate the recommendations issued by the dialogue sessions.
