Egypt's 1st environmentally friendly passenger terminal 2 at Borg el-Arab airport

CAIRO - 7 November 2024: Egyptian Aviation Minister Dr. Sameh El-Hefny is witnessing Thursday, the trial operation of the new Terminal 2 at Borg El Arab International Airport, which is located on an area of ​​40,000 square meters. 

Terminal 2 is the first environmentally friendly passenger terminal in Egypt, equipped in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to accommodate 4 million and 800 thousand passengers annually.

It is one of the most important civil aviation projects within the framework of the transformation to environmentally friendly airports by exploiting solar and renewable energy, rationalizing energy consumption and reducing pollution.

This comes in line with the strategic objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030, which aims to achieve the state's plan to stimulate incoming tourism to Egypt, increase passenger traffic, travel and development rates in various governorates.

The operation on Thursday was attended by Pilot Montaser Manaa, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation, Engineer Ayman Arab, Chairman of the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, and Major General Ahmed Mansour, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company.
