Abdelatty, in a press conference with his Sudanese counterpart Aly Youssef Wednesday, said Egypt backs the Sudanese leadership, government and people in the face of the current crisis.
He touched upon directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to upgrade relations between the two countries, especially that Sudan's national security is integral to Egypt's own.
Indeed, what is going on in Sudan has an impact on Egypt, Abdelatty acknowledged, believing this is normal due to brotherly ties between the two peoples. Egypt is keen on providing all support for the Sudanese people who had fled their country seeking temporary refuge in Egypt, the top diplomat said, welcoming them in their second home.
Abdelatty added that Egypt will continue to cooperate with Sudan at all regional and international gatherings.
He also talked about water, which is an existential issue for Egypt and Sudan. Both Cairo and Khartoum agree on the importance of commitment to international law and not harming downstream countries, the top diplomat stressed.
Egyptian and Sudanese ambassadors are jointly acting in all world capitals to defend the water rights of their countries, Abdelatty told the reporters.
Speaking in the press conference, Youssef said he is happy to visit Egypt and meet with his Egyptian counterpart. He voiced appreciation for Egypt's support for Sudan during this critical phase.
