CAIRO - 6 November 2024: The Official Gazette published the President's decree to appoint Counselor Amal Mahmoud Atta Ammar as head of the National Council for Women (NCW) for four years. 

 

Ammar was a member of the NCW, an alternate rapporteur of the Legislative Committee of the Council, and a head of appeal at the Qena Court of Appeals in Upper Egypt.

 

She obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1992 and holds a Master's degree in International Business Law. She has held several positions, including a member of the Administrative Prosecution Authority and a member of the Technical Office of the Minister of Justice for the Dispute Resolution and Judicial Protection Sector for Children.

 

She was appointed among the first 30 female judges on the Egyptian judiciary platform, and was appointed a judge with the rank of Chief Justice of a Category B at South Cairo Primary Court.

 

She also held the position of Assistant Minister of Justice for Human Rights, Women and Children Affairs.
