CAIRO – 6 November 2024: Badr Abdel-Atti, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, confirmed that he has reached an agreement with Dutch Foreign Minister, Kasper Veldkamp, to activate the Joint Business Council and organize an upcoming business forum.
This statement was made during a joint press conference on Wednesday, where Abdel-Atti was asked about any prearranged visits by Dutch business leaders to Egypt.
Abdel-Atti emphasized Egypt's appreciation for the role Dutch companies have played in supporting Egypt's economy and providing job opportunities. He noted that Dutch companies have had a strong presence in Egypt for decades, but there is a desire for even more collaboration, especially given the expanding opportunities for business growth.
The Minister revealed that visits will be arranged for Dutch private sector delegations to explore investment opportunities in Egypt. This will create avenues for interaction with Egypt’s private sector, based on the principle of mutual benefit.
Abdel-Atti also highlighted Egypt’s skilled workforce and large market, which is further enhanced by free trade agreements with regional and international partners. These include the Arab Free Trade Agreement, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and agreements with Latin American countries under the Mercosur Trade Agreement.
This collaboration with the Netherlands reflects the growing economic ties between the two nations and their shared vision for enhanced investment and job creation.
