CAIRO – 5 November 2024: David Dodman, General Director of the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of the the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), lauded Egypt's hosting of the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF).
Dodman hailed the outstanding selection of Egypt to host the forum as Egypt is working in depth on several issues at the core of the forum's researches and discussions, including green building and responding to climate change.
He asserted that Egypt has already started taking measures in these domains, extolling the organization of the international event.
Dodman said the forum offers a great chance for a large number of those interested in establishing cities.
The WUF12 - which runs from November 4 to 8 - focuses on localizing the Sustainable Development Goals, shedding light on the local actions and initiatives required to curb the current global challenges affecting the daily life of people, including unaffordable housing, rising living costs, climate change, the lack of basic services, and ongoing conflicts.
