CAIRO – 4 November 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty made Sunday evening a phone call to his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot in the framework of coordinating efforts aimed at de-escalation in the Middle East.
The Egyptian minister urged a ceasefire and immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to both Lebanon and Gaza Strip, condemning Israeli targeting of UNIFIL forces in the former, according to a statement released Monday.
The minister also stipulated the importance of implementing UNSC resolution no. 1701 issued in 2006 on halting hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, and establishing a Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 borders having as capital Eastern Jerusalem.
On the bilateral level, the two ministers commended cooperation in various fields. Equally, Minister Abdel Aty expressed aspiration for more French support in the framework of the EU-Egypt partnership agreement signed earlier in 2024.
